Firefighters late today worked to douse a blaze in the 900 block of Woodland Avenue in South Toledo.
Crews arrived about 9:30 p.m. to find heavy fire visible from the first floor of the two-story house. Black smoke poured from the eaves.
The fire was knocked down about 9:35 p.m., but crews remained at the scene at 10:30 attempting to extinguish the blaze.
No one was home at the time, and no one was reported injured, although the battalion chief in command requested that a Life Squad remain as a precaution.
The Lucas County auditor’s Web site lists the owner as Aliza Fitzpatrick. The chief also requested that the American Red Cross be contacted to aid an occupant.
