Two men, charged with participating in a criminal gang, were arraigned in Toledo Municipal Court today.

John King, 27, of 1120 Pinewood Ave., and Christohper Williams, 22, of 730 Fernwood Ave., were both ordered to be held in the Lucas County jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond each. Both men posted surety bonds today and were released from the jail, according to jail and court records.

Both are scheduled to appear in court for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 10.

King and Williams are two of at least eight men to be charged with the second-degree felony, accused of being members of an inner-city gang, the Smith Park Mafia.

Only two others — Jan Brooks and Tevin Redd — have been arrested on the charges.

Mr. Redd posted a $25,000 surety bond on Friday; Mr. Brooks was still in jail this afternoon.

Police announced Friday that the gang, also known as the Smith Park Boys and the Lil Heads, became the target of an investigation after at least one member was connected to at least one shooting.
