Toledo police continue to investigate a drive-by shooting Sunday night that sent one man to the hospital.

Juan Ruiz, 18, of Toledo, was shot three times just after 11 p.m. while he walked in the 300 block of Leland Avenue in South Toledo, according to a Toledo police report.

Based on statements given to police, a dark-colored car, possibly a Dodge Intrepid, drove by the area at least once, turned around, and started to drive by again.

Two men, both on the passenger side of the vehicle, started shooting at the victim, hitting him and a parked car.

Police recovered eight .45 caliber shell casings from the 200 block of Walbridge Avenue and found one bullet fragment in the 300 block of Leland.

The victim was taken by a private vehicle to Toledo Hospital; a spokesman there had no information about a patient by that name.
