Sherwood man critically injured in collision

HICKSVILLE, Ohio — The Defiance post of the Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle crash today that sent one man to an Indiana hospital.

Dustin Vogelsong, 26, of Sherwood, Ohio, was taken by air ambulance to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind. A hospital spokesman had no record of Mr. Vogelsong, but troopers said the victim was listed in critical condition earlier today.

Troopers reported that Mr. Vogelsong was driving a pickup westbound on Buckskin Road at 8:50 a.m. when another pickup traveling northbound on Lake Road, driven by Jan Zijlstra, 20, of Antwerp, Ohio, reportedly failed to yield at a stop sign.

Ms. Zijlstra’s truck hit Mr. Vogelsong’s vehicle, sending both off the side of the road and into a ditch.

Also in Mr. Vogelsong’s truck were Lucas Bonar, 31, and Jason Hoffman, 32, both of Ney, Ohio. In Ms. Zijlstra’s vehicle was Anne Luinenburg, 46, of Antwerp, Ohio.

No one else involved were taken to the hospital.

Troopers said alcohol or drugs are not a factor in the crash.
