5th man charged as gang member arraigned

A fifth man charged with participating in a criminal gang was arraigned in Toledo Municipal Court today.

Police allege that Dominique Buford, 20, of 1410 Norwood Ave., is a member of the Smith Park Mafia.

Mr. Buford was ordered to be held in the Lucas County jail in lieu of a $25,000 bond; he posted a surety bond today.

His case was continued to Aug. 31.

In the past nine days, police have charged at least eight men and arrested four of them on the gang charge.

Those who have been arrested are Jan Brooks, 22, of 3921 Bowman St.; Tevin Redd, 20, of 1023 Norwood Ave.; John King, 27, of 1120 Pinewood Ave.; and Christopher Williams, 22, of 730 Fernwood Ave.

Mr. Redd is still in the jail; the other men each posted a $25,000 surety bond.

Police have issued arrest warrants for at least three other men — Corey Bald, 23, of 2327 Glenwood Ave., Keiandre Pirtle, 21, 1103 Woodland Ave., and Dontae Johnson, 22, 3351 Blanchard St.
