One person injured after SUV crashes into post office

One person inside the post office Wednesday was taken to Mercy St. Anne Hospital with injuries — not believed to be life-threatening — from flying debris, according to Toledo fire Lt. Matthew Hertzfeld. The crash of a vehicle into the post office was the second in a little more than three years. In February, 2009, a car smashed into a window. That driver told police she accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake. A customer in the lobby suffered minor injuries in that crash.

One person was hurt today when a sport utility vehicle slammed into the front of the U.S. Post Office on Tremainsville Road about 3:51 p.m.

The injured person, who was taken to Mercy St. Anne Hospital, had been in the post office and was hurt by debris from the crash, according to Toledo fire Lt. Matthew Hertzfeld. The injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

This is the second time in a little more than three years that a vehicle has run into that post office. In February, 2009, a car smashed into a window. The driver told police she accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake.

A customer in the lobby had minor injuries.
