Toledo police are seeking information through the Crime Stopper program about two robberies in the central city they believe were likely committed by the same man.

The first robbery occurred about 2:40 a.m. Aug. 25 when, police say, a man with a handgun robbed two men on the street at Montebello and Pilgrim roads and in the process pistol-whipped one of the victims.

Taken were cash, cell phones, and house keys.

On Aug. 30, about 3:35 a.m., a man was assaulted and robbed by a gunman on the street at Montebello and Kensington Road, a block away from the first robbery. Taken were a smart phone, bank cards, and keys.

In both incidents, the assailant was described as a tall, black man in his 20s, who asked for a lighter before assaulting the victims, police said.

Anyone with information about the robberies is asked to call the Crime Stopper program. Callers may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a cash reward.
