Arrest warrants have been issued for a Toledo man who, in the past five days, has allegedly robbed three stores, punching the clerk at each, and bit a man before stealing his car.

Kevin Barnhill, 43, of 914 Division St., is charged with four counts of robbery and one count of felonious assault.

Police describe the suspect as black, about 6 feet, 4 inches, with black hair and brown eyes, weighing 220 pounds.

Police said the string of crime started on Wednesday when the man asked another person for a ride. The victim agreed, but when the victim stopped for gas, the suspect asked to be taken to Michigan.

The victim refused and the two struggled over the car keys; the suspect then reportedly bit the victim, got the keys, and took off in the vehicle.

Once police had picked up the victim, the victim spotted his car with the suspect in the driver’s seat.

The second incident was reported on Friday. Police said a man went into Universal Mini Mart, 1111 Starr Ave., in East Toledo, and asked the clerk for change. When the clerk opened the cash register drawer, the man punched the clerk in the face and fled with about $600.

On Saturday, two East Toledo stores — Char’s Mart, 762 Oak St., and East Side Mini Mart, 1110 E. Broadway Ave. — were robbed. In each instance, a man went into the store and was in the midst of a transaction when he punched a clerk and stole money.

About $100 was taken from Char’s Mart; an unknown amount of money was taken from East Side Mini Mart.
