1 person killed in Summit Street crash

Toledo police have identified Eric Fisher, 20, of Toledo as the man who was fatally injured in a two-car crash on North Summit Street in North Toledo overnight that also injured another man.

Mr. Fisher, of 106th Street, a passenger in a car driven by Zachary Fisher, 21, of the same address, was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The driver was also taken to Mercy St. Vincent, where he was listed in good condition.

The Fisher car was northbound on Summit in about the 1600 block near I-280 about 2:30 a.m. today when it drove off the right side of the road, struck a utility pole, got on the grass, and struck another utility pole. The car then got back on the road, spinning and throwing the passenger on the road, police said. Officers did not say whether he was wearing a seat belt.

The car then struck another car, which was being driven by Chancellor Smith, 24, of 287th Street, officers said. Mr. Smith did not report injuries.

The crash remained under investigation.
