Arraignment set for slaying suspect

Tyler Watson, accused of killing a 20-year-old Toledo man, is to appear for arraignment today.

Watson, 23, of 1618 Avondale Ave. is charged with one count of murder in the shooting death of Nicholas Linke on Sept. 8.

The suspect was arrested in Monroe on Wednesday and was returned to Toledo on Friday, according to police and jail records. The Toledo Municipal Court arraignment is scheduled for 9 a.m.

In documents filed in Toledo Municipal Court, police state that the victim was in his parked truck in front of a store in the 800 block of Buckeye Street in North Toledo. A witness reportedly told police of seeing a man get into the vehicle and, a few minutes later, hearing a gunshot. The witness told police the same man got out of the vehicle and ran east on Buckeye.

The witness then told police that the victim drove north on North Ontario Street and hit several vehicles before stoppingd in a front yard in the 1900 block.

The victim was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, where he died of a single gunshot wound to the torso, according to the Lucas County Coroner's Office.
