2 arrested after traffic stop yields stash of liquid codeine

FINDLAY – An Ohio man and woman posted bonds and were out of jail today after being arrested when the Ohio Highway Patrol seized seven bottles of liquid codeine, worth an estimated $5,000, during a traffic stop in Hancock County.

Kenisha L. Williams, 20, the driver, and Je’Ronn Hill, 21, the passenger, both of Columbus, were each charged with aggravated possession of a controlled substance, a fourth-degree felony. Initially booked into the Hancock County jail, they each posted a $10,025 bond and were released. Their next court appearance is Wednesday, sheriff's deputies at the jail said.

Troopers stopped a 2012 Mitsubishi Galant, with Ohio registration, for following too close and marked lanes violations on I-75 near State Rt. 12 about 12:34 a.m. Saturday, the patrol said. Troopers searched the vehicle after smelling marijuana and found about 2,330 milliliters of liquid codeine and what they described as a small amount of marijuana, all in the passenger compartment.

If convicted, the suspects could face up to 18 months in prison and up to a $5,000 fine.
