Willard man dies, 3 injured in 2-vehicle accident in Seneca County

ATTICA, Ohio — A 19-year-old man was killed and three people were hurt early Saturday when two pickup trucks collided at a Seneca County intersection, the Ohio Highway Patrol reported.

Joshua Collins, 19 of Willard, Ohio, was pronounced dead after the crash reported at 1:19 a.m., troopers with the patrol's Fremont Post said.

Mr. Collins was northbound on Seneca County Road 23 when he stopped at a stop sign at U.S. 224, then started to drive through the intersection and was hit in the driver's side by a pickup driven Bryan Waldock 24, of Tiffin, who was eastbound on U.S. 224.

Mr. Collins was taken by helicopter to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, in Toledo, where he was pronounced dead.

Two passengers in Mr. Collins’ vehicle were hurt. David Tripp, 11, of Republic, Ohio was also flown to St. Vincent, where he was listed in serious condition. Johni Hamons, 15, also of Republic, was taken to Willard Hospital. Authorities said his injuries were not life-threatening.

Mr. Waldock was taken to Tiffin Mercy Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. He was arrested for operating a vehicle under the influence.
