Toledo officer hit by vehicle during traffic stop

A Toledo police officer was struck by a vehicle today during a traffic stop on Monroe Street, according to police and fire officials.

The officer was at the 3400 block of Monroe Street when he was struck some time before 2:45 p.m., fire Lt. Matthew Hertzfeld said. He was transported by ambulance to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center by a Toledo Fire Department rescue ambulance.

The officer's name and condition were not immediately available.
