Fire damages Washington Twp. apartment
10/6/2012A small fire damaged an apartment in the Harbor House building in Washington Township today, and the firefighting effort has temporarily closed Shoreland Avenue.
Washington Township firefighters responded to the apartment building at 2677 Shoreland shortly before noon. While mutual aid also responded from Toledo and Morin Point, firefighters quickly knocked down the fire and kept it from spreading beyond the upper-floor, end unit in the building, Assistant Chief Dan Kay said.
No one was home at the time, though the apartment's lone tenant returned during the firefighting effort. Minor water damage occurred in the apartment directly below the fire scene, Chief Kay said.
