Two people were shot Saturday night, Toledo police reported.

Darian Highsmith, 29, was shot once in the left leg during a drive-by incident at Torrey Hill Drive and Milburn Avenue in South Toledo at about 5 p.m., police reported.

He was taken to Toledo Hospital where he was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.

The victim told police he and friends were walking northbound on Torrey Hill when a vehicle turned onto the street, traveling in the same direction, when someone fired from the front passenger window.

At about 11:20 p.m., Joanne Garza, 47, was shot in the left leg at Chestnut and Peck streets in North Toledo.

The victim, who was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in a private vehicle, told police she was walking home from Gold Star Carryout on Lagrange Street when she heard three gunshots. She did not provide police with a suspect description.

A hospital spokesman said Ms. Garza was treated and released.
