The Toledo Police Department announced Monday grant awards for traffic safety enforcement.

The department was awarded $69,115.20 in federal money from the Ohio Criminal Justice Services Traffic Safety Office, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The funds will pay for officer salaries during the enforcement periods, which will focus on speeding, safety restraints, impaired driving, and motorcycle and youthful drivers, police said. Enforcement will be focused in areas that are prone to higher numbers of serious and fatal crashes.
