DEFIANCE ‑ A Henry County man was killed today when he lost control of the car he was driving and struck a utility pole on Buckskin Road in Delaware Township, about five miles northwest of Defiance, the Ohio Highway Patrol said.

Thomas Webb, Jr., 32, of Napoleon was pronounced dead at the scene by the Defiance County coroner.

His passengers, Amanda Webb, 32, and Thomas Webb III, 3, were taken to Toledo Hospital, where they were being treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to the highway patrol.

Troopers said the 1999 Ford Escort was eastbound on Buckskin about 4 p.m. at a high rate of speed when it went off the left side of the road, went into the ditch, overturned, and hit the pole. The crash remains under investigation.
