Three Cincinnati men will appear in Toledo Municipal Court next week for their alleged roles in the armed robbery of two University of Toledo students.

Randall Whitehead Jr., 18; Stevon Nelms, 18, and Jerron Briggs, 20, are being held in the Lucas County jail after arraignment Friday in Toledo Municipal Court.

Mr. Whitehead, a UT student, is charged with aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary; his bond was set at $150,000. Mr. Nelms, also a UT student, is charged with complicity; his bond was set at $75,000. Mr. Briggs, who does not appear to be a student, is charged with aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and aggravated burglary with a deadly weapon; his bond was set at $150,000.

Mr. Whitehead and Mr. Nelms are roommates and first-year students.

According to documents filed by University of Toledo police in municipal court, the men are accused of involvement in the robbery of students Khire Lateef and William Hendricks in the victims’ dorm room at Horton International House, 1730 W. Rocket Dr., just before midnight Wednesday.

Police allege the three men went into the victims’ dorm room, with at least one armed with a gun pointed at the victims. The men were given items and fled, the records state.

Police claim they have surveillance video that corroborates an “admission” from one suspect. Another suspect allegedly told police he threw a bag of stolen property into a Dumpster at the request of another suspect.

The men are scheduled to appear for preliminary hearings Friday.
