A South Toledo man was injured Friday night when a car he was riding in went out of control and struck a tree on the Anthony Wayne Trail Friday night.

Kenneth Tesznar, 25, was taken to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital, where a spokesman said UTMC had no information on a patient by that name.

According to Maumee police, a car driven by Joshua T. Pelton, 25, of Savannah, Ga. was westbound on the Trail just east of Detroit Avenue at 10:50 p.m. when his car left the road, slid sideways, and struck a tree in the median between the Trail and Seventh Street.

Mr. Pelton, who was treated at St. Luke’s Hospital, was charged with aggravated vehicular assault and released on a $10,000 cash bond from Maumee Municipal Court.

Police said additional charges could be filed, pending the results of toxicology tests.
