North Carolina man's vehicle hit tree on Anthony Wayne Trail, injured passenger

A North Carolina man has been charged with aggravated vehicular assault after his vehicle hit a tree on the Anthony Wayne Trail, injuring a South Toledo man who was a passenger in his car.

Kenneth Tesznar, 25, was taken to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital, where a spokesman said there was no information on a patient by that name.

Maumee police said a car driven by Joshua T. Pelton, 25, of Spring Lake, N.C., was westbound on the Trail east of Detroit Avenue at 10:50 p.m. Friday when his car left the road, slid, and struck a tree in the median between the Trail and Seventh Street. Mr. Pelton, who was treated at St. Luke’s Hospital, was released on a $10,000 cash bond and is scheduled for arraignment at 10 a.m. Monday in Maumee Municipal Court.
