Oregon will be getting a police dog.

City Council Monday accepted a $15,000 donation from Toledo Refining Co. LLC  that will be deposited in the city's Law Enforcement Trust Fund to cover the costs of forming the police canine (K-9) unit.

Council members expressed gratitude to Toledo Refining and noted that the company and city have a history of cooperation in ensuring the most effective police services are available to the public.

The  intersection of Dustin Road and Harbor Drive will remain closed to traffic until 5 p.m. Nov. 9 for concrete pavement replacement on Dustin. The detour route is Isaac Street Drive to Navarre Avenue to Coy Road. Questions can be addressed to the department of public service at 419-698-7047.

The entire project is expected to be completed by Thanksgiving.
