2 injured as their vehicles crashed head-on tonight south of Tiffin

TIFFIN -- Two people were hurt when their vehicles crashed head-on Thursday along U.S. 224 south of Tiffin in Seneca County's Clinton Township.

Troopers at the Fremont post of the Ohio Highway Patrol said that Sara Kin, 70, of Pemberville, Ohio, was westbound on U.S. 224 east of State Rt. 231 about 5:55 p.m. when her car tried to pass a commercial vehicle and struck an eastbound pickup truck driven by Dennis Bannister, 43, of Republic Ohio.

Mrs. Kin was taken by medical helicopter to the University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital. Her condition was not available late Thursday. Mr. Bannister was treated at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, troopers said. The crash was under investigation.

Tiffin is about 50 miles southeast of Toledo.
