Two people, including a young boy, were shot in Toledo overnight, police reported.

John Perez, 15, was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center after being shot in the left thigh at about 8 p.m. while he walked along Idaho Street, near Spring Grove Avenue, in East Toledo. A hospital spokesman said she had no patients at the hospital by that name.

In a Toledo police report, an officer wrote that the victim was approached by three males -- all possibly 16 to 20 years old. One of the suspects said, "hey," and, as the victim turned around, one fired a single shot at the victim.

All three suspects fled; the victim ran home and was taken to the hospital by his mother, police said.

At 2:30 a.m. today, police were dispatched to the 900 block of Coventry Avenue, in central Toledo, for a report of the person shot.

No victim was found at the scene, but a witness reported that the victim left the scene in a private vehicle. Police stopped the car a short time later on Dorr Street.

The victim, Angelo Snow, 23, told police he was shot on the tip of a middle finger while he was leaving a party on Coventry. The victim said he knows the suspects, who fired three or four times at him.

At least one shot struck a vehicle.

The victim was taken to Toledo Hospital for treatment.
