Fulton County scrap yard under investigation by IRS Criminal Investigations Division

DELTA, Ohio -- A Fulton County scrap yard is under investigation by the IRS Criminal Investigations Division.

Federal investigators arrived at the Ohio Scrap Corp. on U.S. 20 early Thursday, a Fulton County sheriff's deputy confirmed.

The sheriff's department is not involved but received advance notice that an investigation is under way. Sheriff's officials were not told of the purpose of the investigation.

IRS officials could not be reached Thursday. A person, who initially identified himself as an employee at the scrap business, hung up the phone Thursday when contacted by The Blade.

The IRS's Criminal Investigations Division handles probes into financial-related crimes, according to the IRS Web site.

Ohio Scrap Corp. specializes in auto parts including machinery and aluminum, according to an online business description.
