MONROE -- A 19-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the armed robberies of two businesses after a caller told authorities where to find him -- and kept them updated until sheriff's deputies arrived.

The Monroe man, whose name was not released pending arraignment Tuesday, was held on an interim $500,000 bond, Monroe County sheriff's deputies said.

Someone called Monroe County's central dispatch about 5 p.m. Friday and said a robbery suspect was in a vehicle with a woman near Telegraph Road and the Monroe Mall. The caller provided the driver's latest location as officers looked for the vehicle, which was stopped by a deputy at Telegraph and Holiday Boulevard.

The man and woman were questioned at the sheriff's office detective bureau. The man was taken to jail, accused of the Oct. 7 armed robbery of Smokes N Stuff and Nov. 6 robbery of Yaeger's Shoes. The woman was released.
