FOSTORIA — A 9-year-old boy who was struck by a pickup Thursday evening on State Rt. 18 on Fostoria's southeast side has died at Toledo Hospital, where he was taken for treatment, a Lucas County deputy coroner said Sunday.

Mavin Hamilton of Fostoria died at 2 p.m. Saturday of his injuries, Dr. Diane Barnett said.

The boy was flown to Toledo after he was struck by a southbound vehicle.

The Ohio Highway Patrol said the child darted from behind a building about 5:30 p.m. and into the path of the truck driven by George Tucker, 74, of Fostoria.

Mavin was taken initially to Fostoria Community Hospital before he was flown to Toledo.
