ADRIAN — A Jackson County, Michigan, man has been charged with the murder of a woman whose body was found last week at a boat launch.

Held in the Lenawee County jail Thursday was Steven Daniel Storm, 42, of the Vandercook Lake area, Lenawee County Sheriff Jack Welsh said. He is to be arraigned today in Lenawee County District Court.

Authorities say Sandra Johnson, 63, of Lenawee County’s Woodstock Township, was killed at her home. Authorities have not said how she was killed.

Mr. Storm was arrested Wednesday after questioning in Jackson County that followed a meeting of detectives from Lenawee and Jackson counties to review Ms. Johnson’s bank records and other information from the case. Authorities did not say what role the financial records played in the arrest or offer a motive for the slaying.

Ms. Johnson’s body was found Saturday on a boat launch at Crispell Lake in Jackson County’s Liberty Township. Evidence found at the scene indicated her body was dumped there.

Once the woman was identified with the help of family members, authorities went to her home to secure the residence and to see that no other victims might be inside, officials said. At the time, they said, officials could not determine where the slaying occurred.

Evidence from the boat launch and Ms. Johnson’s home was sent to the Michigan State Police crime lab.
