No injuries in early morning fire in Sylvania

No injuries were sustained during a Saturday morning house fire in Sylvania that began in the attic.

Fire crews were dispatched to the 5600 block of Balfour at 9:22 a.m. Upon arrival, Sylvania fire fighters encountered flames coming out of the top floor of the home. Crews battled the blaze for less than an hour before extinguishing it.

The owners were home at the time but were able to get outside safely, officials said. They were alerted by the smell of smoke.

Fire crews remained on scene after extinguishing the blaze. The fire initially did not look suspicious but it remains under investigation.

Crews from Toledo and Springfield Township were called in on standby.
