A man was shot Saturday afternoon in central Toledo while watching a football game on TV, police said.

Richard Hicks, whose age police did not know Saturday night, was watching football at a cousin’s house at 926 Blum St., about a block from Pickett Academy, when he was shot, police said. Officers received a report of the shooting at 2:12 p.m.

Witnesses said someone shot from outside the house, striking Mr. Hicks at least once. A gold Buick was seen in the area at the time of the shooting, although police are not sure if it was connected to the incident.

Police did not know to what hospital Mr. Hicks was taken for treatment.
