A 2006 Dodge Charger revved up much more interest from bidders today than a 2006 Honda Moped during the Toledo police abandoned vehicle auction.

A total of 59 vehicles, abandoned and not claimed by their owners, were auctioned during the event; there were 138 registered bidders. The vehicles grossed $53,025, and after auction expenses, the proceeds will go to the city of Toledo's general fund, said Toledo Police Officer Dalton Wilkinson.

The Dodge Charger, he said, had the highest bid of $3,600, followed by a 2001 Lincoln Navigator at $3,100.

At the other end of bidders' interest: a 1983 Buick Regal, purchased for $500, and the Honda Moped 50 with a winning bid of $350.

The 11 a.m. auction was held at the Toledo police impound lot, 198 Dura Ave.
