Monroe woman killed at Eastern Michigan University

YPSILANTI, Mich. -- A Monroe woman studying at Eastern Michigan University was killed Tuesday night in an apparent homicide, according to the university's Web site.

The victim, Julia Niswender, 23, was found in an off-campus apartment in the 1000 block of Huron River Drive at about 9:30 p.m., the university said in an online statement.

It's unclear how the woman died, but Ypsilanti police have said the death is being investigated as a homicide.

On her Facebook profile, Ms. Niswender described herself as a communications student studying electronic media and film.

She graduated from Monroe High School in 2008.
