Police arrested a Toledo man Thursday, charging him with robbing an Oregon bank that day.

Robert Fletcher, 49, whose last known address was on Alexis Road, was being held late Thursday in the Lucas County jail, after being taken into custody at about 4 p.m., Oregon police Chief Mike Navarre said.

Charter One Bank, 3024 Navarre Ave., was robbed just after 10 a.m.

Police tracked him after a clerk at the Comfort Inn, 2930 Navarre, reported a “suspicious guy” who paid with cash had stayed there the night before, Chief Navarre said. The clerk had his license plate number.

Oregon police tracked the vehicle and arrested Mr. Fletcher walking through an alley at Nevada Street and East Broadway.

When police searched the room where Mr. Fletcher stayed the night before, they found red dye from a dye pack that had exploded, the chief said.
