Free smoke detectors, alarms to be handed out

ATTICA, Ohio — The Attica-Venice-Reed Fire District and Republic-Scipio Fire Department, reacting to a fatal house fire on Nov. 27, will hand out free smoke detectors and alarms today at the Seneca East Local School District in Attica.

Two adults and three children in the Hamilton and Bondy family died in the fire on Township Road 124 near Attica in Seneca County. The children were students in the Seneca East district.

First Alert and 1-800-BoardUp donated more than 600 detectors.
