MONROE -- For the second time since Sunday, a LaSalle Township store was held up by a man wielding a large knife, officials said.

Today's incident at Midway Liquor Store, 12240 S. Dixie Hwy., was a robbery attempt that occurred sometime after 10 a.m., according to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.

A man went into the store holding a knife, carried in a sheath, up to his chest and told a clerk he was robbing the store. The clerk pulled out a gun and ordered the suspect to stop.

The suspect fled on foot and got into the passenger side of a dark-colored Chrysler PT Cruiser. Nothing was taken, according to the report.

The man is described by authorities as white, 5 feet, 9 inches tall, 150 pounds, with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a dark coat, pants, dark gloves, and a black mask, deputies said.

On Sunday, Fred's Cash and Carry, 12989 South Telegraph Rd., was robbed by a man with a knife.

He was described as white, 5 feet, 10 inches, with a medium build. He, too, was seen getting into the passenger side of a dark PT Cruiser after he fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
