Although local authorities said they do not believe there is any credibility to an alleged shooting threat Friday at Whitmer High School, they will have an extra presence at the school the rest of the week.

Police were told by school officials Tuesday that a student was potentially going to do something during the school’s talent show Friday but could not pinpoint a suspect or find any evidence that the threat was credible, said Toledo Police Sgt. Joe Heffernan. The incident — and several other simliar situations at local schools — comes on the heels of the mass shooting Friday at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn.

Sergeant Heffernan said police will have two officers at the school Friday during the talent show in addition to the school’s resource officer.
