A Rossford man who officials said posted threatening messages on the Rossford Police department’s Facebook page has been charged in federal court.

Justin A. Eckenrode appeared this week in U.S. District Court in Toledo, where he was ordered detained without bond. He is charged with interstate communication of a threat.

According to an affidavit filed Dec. 18, Mr. Eckenrode wrote on the department’s Facebook page on Nov. 4: “so I guess its that time for me if you come to my house for any reason you will die…sry” and “WHAT YOU WAITING FOR THE DEATH OF OTHERS? That should be my only curse.”

Mr. Eckenrode was arrested and a .223 semiautomatic rifle and ammunition were seized. Mr. Eckenrode claimed he had been drunk while posting on Facebook and told officers that he suffered from anxiety and depression.

A Jan. 3 bond hearing has been set before Magistrate Judge Vernelis Armstrong.
