Person shot near downtown Toledo

An unidentified man was shot in the foot this afternoon in the Port Lawrence Homes public housing complex near downtown Toledo, police said.

Officers responded at about 1:15 p.m. to 13th Street, about a half block north of the Historic Church of St. Patrick, for a report of a shooting. A man apparently fired a gun several times at the victim following a dispute on the street. One bullet went through the victim's foot; he was taken by ambulance from the scene.

Police detained two men at the scene; they were later released when a witness told officers the men weren't involved in the shooting.

Detectives at the scene said the victim did not know the man who shot him.
