WAUSEON — The continuing investigation into the crash that caused fatal injuries to Cory Sprow, principal of Delta Elementary School and a former Delta High basketball coach, indicates that he was wearing a seat belt, Fulton County Sheriff Roy Miller said.

Mr. Sprow lost control on an icy U.S. 20A while eastbound between County Roads 4 and 5 in Swancreek Township on Dec. 26. The vehicle went left of center and into the path of a westbound vehicle driven by Matthew Trumbull, 18.

Mr. Sprow, 38, died Jan. 3 at University of Toledo Medical Center, the former Medical College of Ohio Hospital.

First responders had reported Mr. Sprow was not wearing a seat belt. The Ohio Highway Patrol conducted an electronic analysis of his vehicle's airbag control module, which indicated that Mr. Sprow was wearing a seat belt when the crash occurred, Sheriff Miller said.
