Thieves target work vehicles in West Toledo

1/12/2013

In the last two weeks, a dozen work vehicles in West Toledo have been broken into, police said.

The vehicles — either trucks or vans — were locked and were entered after a passenger-side window was broken or a lock was pried, according to police.

In one incident, in the 3000 block of Lambert Street, a black male was seen fleeing the scene of one of the break-ins and leaving in a silver truck, police reported.

No further description of the suspect was available. Information on what or how many items were taken from the vehicles was also unavailable.

The first known break-in was reported Dec. 26; the most recent was reported Tuesday.

They appear to happen at all times of the day.

Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to call the Crime Stoppers program at 419-255-1111.
