Fire at OmniSource closes North Toledo street

A fire at a scrap metal processing facility closed North Detroit Avenue near West Laskey Road in North Toledo today, authorities said.

There were no reported injuries.

Toledo police said the road was closed to traffic about 7:20 a.m., approximately three hours after the fire at OmniSource Corp., 5130 N. Detroit Ave., was reported. It was "not a fully blown fire," a police dispatcher said.

The fire was extinguished sometime before 8 a.m., at which time the road remained closed, according to the police dispatcher.

Toledo fire crews remained at the scene at the time, to make sure the fire did not reignite, according to the Toledo fire department.
