Man indicted in Lucas County in death of fellow inmate

A former inmate at the Toledo Correctional Institution was indicted today by a Lucas County grand jury for aggravated murder in the strangulation last year of a fellow inmate.

Lawrence Hensley, 43, of Sidney, Ohio, was indicted in the death of Bradley L. Hamlin, 24, of Mantua, Ohio, who was found Sept. 20 unresponsive on the floor of Hensley's cell. He was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center where he died two days later from his injuries.

Hensley currently is being held in the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville where he is serving a life sentence for aggravated murder, kidnapping, and felonious assault from Shelby County.

At the time of his death, Hamlin was serving a 60-month prison sentence for burglary, breaking and entering, and theft from Portage and Cuyahoga counties.
