Toledo police have identified Marcus Buchanant, 30, of Toledo, as the man who was found shot near the intersection of Lagrange and Mettler streets in North Toledo today.

Police said Mr. Buchanant was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center with at least one gunshot wound in the abdomen but it appeared that he would survive. A hospital spokesman said she had no information about a person by that name.

A man at the scene said he found the victim in the street, on his hands and knees, about 8:30 a.m. and called 9-1-1. Police said the victim was unresponsive when he was asked who had shot him. He was later put on a ventilator, which made it impossible to interview him, police said in an unusual incident report.

There was no obvious evidence at the scene. Police said it was unclear what the motive was or where the shooting occurred.

The intersection was blocked for about 50 minutes as police investigated. Traffic in the intersection returned to normal about 9:20 a.m.

There was no word of arrests.
