An man who was found unconscious Monday morning in a swimming pool at a West Toledo YMCA survived, YMCA officials said.

The man, not identified by the YMCA, was taken to Toledo Hospital after he was found at about 10:50 a.m. in the lap pool at the 2200 Tremainsville Rd. facility during open swim, YMCA spokesman Rob Thomas said.

After someone saw him in the water, lifeguards rescued the man and began life-saving efforts that EMS crews took over upon their arrival, Mr. Thomas said.

The man, probably unconscious in the pool for less than a minute, was “doing fine” on Monday afternoon, he said.

The pool was closed for about 20 minutes after the incident, which the YMCA continues to investigate, Mr. Thomas said.
