A Toledo man was arrested today and accused of leading police on a chase that ended with one officer injured and the car crashing into a South Toledo home, Toledo police said.

Scott Gorsuch, 32, of 432 Sunset Blvd.,was charged with failure to comply with an order of a police officer, felonious assault on a police officer, and resisting arrest, police said. There are also traffic and drug-related charges. He was booked into the Lucas County jail, pending arraignment Thursday.

The officer was taken to an area hospital for back injuries, police said. His name and condition were not released.

About 3:11 a.m., a police gang unit tried to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation at Buckingham Street and Junction Avenue in the central city, police said. The vehicle fled, initiating a pursuit, during which the suspect's car was pinned against a cement barrier on Airline Avenue, officers said.

Police said an officer then tried to pull the driver from the vehicle, at which time the suspect started driving again, ramming a police vehicle and sideswiping a police officer.

The pursuit then continued for several minutes, ending about 3:20 a.m. when the vehicle crashed into a house in the 3400 block of River near Central Grove Avenue, police said.

The driver was then taken into custody after a brief struggle, suffering minor injuries, police said.
