MONROE — A Carleton, Mich., man is being held without bond in the Monroe County jail for charges stemming from the weekend death of his father.

David C. Killian III, 26, was arraigned Wednesday in First District Court on open murder charges. Judge Jack Vitale denied setting a bond and scheduled a preliminary exam for Thursday.

Authorities said David C. Killian II, 50, was found Sunday in the basement of his son’s home on Carleton-Rockwood Road after deputies received a call from a relative reporting the elder Killian, who lived in Detroit Beach, was missing.
