TIFFIN — Drug-related charges are pending against several people accused of being involved in the sale of synthetic marijuana, also known as herbal incense, after a raid at a Tiffin store.

The Seneca County Drug Task Force-METRICH Enforcement Unit, along with state authorities, executed a drug-related search warrant Friday at Zig Stag, 20 E. Market St.

Authorities said drug paraphernalia, cash, financial records, and suspected synthetic cannabinoids were seized.

The search stemmed from a 12-month investigation that was sparked by complaints received by the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office and Tiffin police alleging juveniles were abusing the synthetic marijuana.

“We noticed a very large influx of complaints, overdoses, and law enforcement submissions or seizures of the herbal incense, and through our investigation we found that the Zig Stag store was one of the main suppliers of the substance in our community,” Tiffin police Det. Charles W. Boyer said.

Charges of trafficking in drugs, possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, aggravated funding of drugs, corrupting another with drugs, permitting drug abuse, abusing harmful intoxicants, tax violation, and money laundering were pending against several people affiliated with the business, Detective Boyer said.
