Toledo Police investigate a crash on the Anthony Wayne Trail at City Park Avenue in South Toledo early today.

A Toledo man suffered life-threatening injuries today in a crash on the Anthony Wayne Trail.

Aaron Davis, 18, of Toronto Avenue, was taken to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center when the vehicle he was driving was struck at about 9:15 a.m. at the City Park Avenue intersection. Mr. Davis was listed in critical condition late today, according to a hospital spokesman.

Donald McMullin, 36, the driver of the vehicle that hit him, was also taken to Mercy with unspecified injuries, according to a Toledo Police Department report, though police said Mr. McMullin was not as seriously injured as Mr. Davis.

Mr. McMullin, of Nebraska Avenue, was driving an SUV outbound on the Trail and tried to beat the changing traffic light at City Park, witnesses told police. Mr. Davis was inbound, attempting to make a left turn with his car onto City Park, when the two vehicles collided.

Both drivers were trapped inside their vehicles when first responders arrived. City Park and two outbound lanes were closed for about an hour after the crash, police said.

The crash is currently under investigation.
