Michigan expected to rule on firearm use in March

BLADE STAFF

Superintendent Greg Stewart said he expects the Michigan Department of Natural Resources to take about a month to issue its recommendation on a proposal from last year to ban the discharge of a firearm within 150 yards of a home, dwelling, or school in the township.

Because Bedford is a general township, it cannot impose restrictions on firearm use without DNR permission. The proposal to restrict firearm use dates to last year, when thenTtrustee Jim Goebel received complaints about a neighbor on Sarah Drive repeatedly engaging in target practice.
