FINDLAY -- A Fostoria man died in an apparent suicide following a shooting that took place near a boat ramp at the Findlay Reservoir No. 2.

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office said Jason Lebay, 36, of Fostoria died today, following a shooting incident around 8:30 p.m. Monday. Detective Sgt. Jason Seem said an investigation is ongoing and an autopsy will be performed, but authorities believe the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.

Mr. Lebay and his girlfriend were in a car parked at the reservoir, off Township Road 207 in Marion Township when a Hancock County deputy noticed the car and asked for identification.

Sergeant Seem said the deputy had returned to the deputy's car when the shooting occurred. The woman in the car with Mr. Lebay was not harmed, he said. Mr. Lebay was transported Monday to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center.

Sergeant Seem said there were drug-related felony warrants for Mr. Lebay in Seneca County.
