Bluffton woman struck by vehicle while walking

FOSTORIA — A Bluffton, Ohio, woman was injured Sunday when she was struck by a vehicle while walking along State Route 199 in Wood County’s Perry Township northwest of Fostoria, sheriff’s investigators said.

Deputies said Bridgette Staley, 23, was unresponsive when found on the highway around 3 a.m.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Route 199 and Pelton Road.

Emergency crews from Fostoria and the West Millgrove Fire Department assisted.

Ms. Staley was taken to Fostoria City Hospital and later flown to Toledo Hospital, where she was in critical condition Sunday night.

A vehicle thought to be involved in the incident was later found and the driver identified, although the driver’s name was not released.

The incident was under investigation, deputies said.
